Contracting is firstly about people

Maintaining one of Australia s largest and most modern fleets of equipment requires a skilled and capable workforce. Macmahon is committed to providing outstanding employment opportunities for apprentices through our training scheme. Macmahon apprentices have received excellence awards at state and national level. Macmahon was the winner of the Perth and North Queensland regional 2006 Minister's Awards for Excellence - Employers of New Apprentices. A long term and rewarding career is offered to Macmahon apprentices, which is proven in that many of the company s maintenance supervisors started with Macmahon as an apprentice.

Macmahon is a major employer of apprentices and currently employs over 90 apprentices across Australia. In 2008, Macmahon is planning an intake of around 25 apprentices, mainly in Western Australia and Queensland.

The majority of apprenticeships are offered in the Heavy Duty Plant Mechanic trade on a yearly basis. Additionally, a smaller number of Fabrication (Boilermaker) apprenticeships are also offered each year. Electrical (Auto) apprenticeships are offered every second year.
